“鱼筌” is a traditional fishing trap made of bamboo.
The artist Cheng-Tsung Feng studied the method of the making the fish carp and applied it to the creation of large-scale installations.
In this course, he will lead the participants to learn the traditional craftsmanship and design our own works.
Young Taiwanese designer Cheng-Tsung Feng reinterprets bamboo craft and natural bamboo with a design mindset. He compares the East with the West, the traditional with the modern, igniting new sparks with his design. He has adopted the method of making Thao fish traps in his installation art. Through Design Society’s workshop, he imparts and shares the ancient wisdom preserved by the elders, and invites everyone to enjoy the beauty of Sun Moon Lake and the traditional culture of the Thao minority.
About the guest
Fan Chengzong graduated from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He specialized in bamboo craft design, industrial product design, visual communication design. He is fascinated by the tradition of artifacts and the wisdom of it, therefore he began to strive to inherit the spirit of these design, and his most eye-catching talent is to combine bamboo with traditional craftsmanship to produce a variety of works of art. In 2015, his established his studio and received IF, Red Dot, IDEA and other international design awards
