Violinist (Benny) Tseng Yu-Chien is rapidly building an international reputation as an emerging young soloist of enormous promise, praised for his “grace, poise, and blistering virtuosity.”

A student of eminent pedagogues Aaron Rosand and Ida Kavafian at the Curtis Institute of Music, his notable competition wins include the gold-standard Tchaikovsky Competition (2015), Singapore International Violin Competition (SIVC, 2015), Isang Yun Competition (2011) and Sarasate International Competition in Pamplona (2009). Deutsche Grammophon (DG) signed him in 2016 and released his debut album Reverie in January 2017. His second album recorded with Mikhail Pletnev and the Russian National Orchestra, featuring Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto and other celebrated works by the composer, was released in November 2018.

Benny has also appeared as a soloist with the London Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic Orchestras, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and many others. He has worked with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Jiří Bělohlávek, and Esa-Pekka Salonen.

On his upcoming concert, Benny will be featuring a selective repertoire that reveals his full capability in violin playing. The program includes best-known compositions by Tartini, Schumann, Ernst, and Franck.
