Chibitronics is an evolution of Jie Qi’s passion for combining technology and art through making electronics using paper craft. The circuit stickers were developed as part of her PhD research at the MIT Media Lab. Together with her co-workers, Jie’s research has evolved into the Chibitronics toolkits. They hope to share this new way of learning circuits and creating artwork, so that everyone can become technology creators!

Paper electronics combines art and craft with electronics by using craft materials like conductive tapes and Chibitronics LED stickers to build circuits.  By using friendly materials like paper to build circuits, we invite learners to use skills and familiarity they already have as an on-ramp to learning new concepts in electronics.  In this workshop, participants will get an introduction to circuit building and discover the magical possibilities of using technology to make artwork come to life, as well as using art to make technology beautiful and personally meaningful.  This workshop is for those who have little to no experience building electronics but are excited to learn more!
